COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES

European territorial cooperation represents Objective 3 of the Pole of Economic and Social Cohesion of the European Union for the period 2007 – 2013 and aims at the cooperation consolidation at the transborder, transnational and interregional level. This objective acts as a complement for other two objectives, convergence and regional competitiveness and employment of labour force as eligible regions within it are also eligible for objectives 1 and 2.
Within this objective, it is aimed to the promotion of some joint solutions for the authorities in various states in the field of urban, rural, costal development, development of economic relations and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Cooperation is focused on research, development, society based on knowledge, risk prevention and integrated water management.
It is highly important the active involvement of local authorities in drawing up some quality projects which should meet not only to some local needs and to some regional development requirements. As the interdependence between cities, municipalities and regions increases, it is highly important the mobilization of the European territorial potential.
Cooperation facilitates experience exchange at the level of the whole European territory, contributing to solidarity development and providing added value to the activities conducted by local authorities. These have experience in self-government and are thoroughly acquainted both with the problems and the opportunities at the level of own territory, representing key actors in reaching the objectives of a sustainable territorial development.

The role of North-West Regional Development Agency within the objective of European Territorial Cooperation is mainly that of spreading the information and to facilitate the setting up of partnerships in this respect. The North-West RDA may use the extended database of partners to identify for local authorities, universities and other public institutions or any public equivalent, the appropriate partners for setting up sustainable consortia. We also encourage posting project ideas within portals set up with the purpose of supporting setting up partnerships, at the links you find at the bottom of the page.

North-West RDA is an eligible partner for these programmes, as it has acquired a wide experience in the implementation of European cooperation projects. You may find details concerning these projects at this site at the column Services for Regional Development – own Projects. The institutions which are interested and are eligible for these programmes may also contact us for proposals for setting up partnerships.

For more information concerning these programmes, you may access the Portal for the support of the beneficiaries of Territorial Cooperation programmes on the site of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Housing or on the sites of some programmes providing with the possibility of introducing some project ideas for partner identification (for instance, for URBACT II programme, for INTERREG IV programme, South – East Europe).
